1. If by "up to date" you mean compute number of points for each user, based on his/her past activity, this would require at least a few hours of coding.
2. To do for a future version: include mails into backup zip
3. The appearence of ROOT category is explained by the new model categories are stored (a nested set model, better for this component than the old one, called "adjiacent model")
4. Just tested this and it works. Beside adding "img" as an "allowed tag", be sure to also add "src" as an "allowed attribute"
I think that caused your issue.
5. If you go to user's profile, you should see a change in the number of points user has and a new entry in the "Activity snapshot" tab.
