I'm having a problem with 2 links:

First link:    http://granths.org/apps/news/news_rss.jsp?id=0&rn=8830914 displays the summary and hover info, but the linked page states "No feeds available at the moment."

Second link:       http://www.zdnet.com/2260-1_22.xml is now displaying under 1.0.3, but will give an error when I refresh manually: "Error: The XML response that was returned from the server in invalid. Received:   " (nothing after the "Received:".

Finally, (different topic) is there anything I need to do for auto refresh? Under 1.0.2 it would not refresh on its own (psuedo cron is set to YES).

Site: www.burdo.net (follow RSS News Feeds link)

Thank you in advance,

George

Gaburo
about the first feed: it seems you added a space before the " Grant High School" category, or something similar. Try to remove and add it again...

about the second feed: please use http://news.zdnet.com/2260-1_22.xml
there is a permanent redirect to this other address, and if your site is running in safemode, curl won't follow that redirection. anyway - use the "redirected" address.
as a general advice - please try the feeds first in an explorer window, then copy the address bar and paste it into the rssfactory. so you will ensure that there are no redirects problems

About the refresh. This should work automatically (of course there must be visitors on your site). Please keep in mind that the NEXT user will see the refreshed feeds. The user that initiates the Pseudorefresh will see still the "old" ones.

if your site does not have regular visitors, i must advice to use a CRON refresh. So you can ensure that google picks up on your refreshed pages.

Hi,
The problem with the UTF-8 charset is that your site has ISO encoding, and you use the feeds in the module. the module will not set your page to UTF-8, only the component.

The solution is to change your site encoding to UTF-8  (as i explained in another post - there are 2 ways of doing that - search the forum for the keyword "_ISO" )

Sorry, but there will be no change to the behaviour of the module in the future as i see it, because it could cause more problems then it will solve (imagine a module that enforces another characterset on your content)

anyway hope this helps

Hi, my site's encoding is windows-1251, and i try adding newsfeed www.natahaus.ru/rss.xml (encoding also is window-1251). Result you can see here: http://www.adminsk.ru/component/option,com_rssfactory/Itemid,13/ - not readable feed   Undecided

Setting "Force HTML encoding :" field as "utf-8", "windows-1251", "cp1252" has no results. Please help.

Also , when i get on the rsspage http://www.natahaus.ru/rss.xml with firefox and take a look at the page info you can see it's UTF-8 (or in IE if you go to View - Encoding -> you will see it's unicode and not windows 1251)

I can see that the XML has an encoding 1251 in the header , but strangly the browser seems to use UTF-8 to display it. I will take a closer look onto it, because there seems to be more then this feed that has this strange behaviour

I'm sorry, i forgeth to mark this channel (natahaus) as "published" on my site  Undecided So, now i place on my site 4 new feeds with russian's characters (http://www.securitylab.ru/_Services/Export/RSS/, http://www.membrana.ru/export/rss.xml, http://www.ixbt.com/export/hardnews.rss, http://www.ferra.ru/export/articles-rss.xml), and no one from this are correctly displayed... And more: all this channels are correctly displayed on Firefox and NewsGator FeedDemon.

PS: Primary encoding of my site is windows-1251, encoding in .htaccess (AddDefaultCharset) is WINDOWS-1251; encoding of joomla tables in database - cp1251_general_ci.

PS2: sorry for my english  Roll Eyes

I am trying to show a feed that I have mashed up using Google Reader. Google outputs atom and so I am delighted that your reader can handle atom.

But there is a problem, the actual item_source table is populated with the wrong URL when I use a mashed up feed.

This is an example of the URLs stored...
http://www.finextra.com/fullstory.asp?id=17145http://www.finextra.com/

As you can see the base URL "http://www.finextra.com/" is repeated at the end of the URL. Obviously this won't work.

You can try by picking up a trial feed here.
