Native Joomla Search Module

Can you integrate the native Joomla search module to work with Auction Factory?
I would like the users to be able to put ANY text in the Joomla search module to search not just the content of the site but ALSO the auctions.
For instance, if you have a search term that they want to find out more about... like 'corn' not only will they get the articles within the site but ALSO the auctions that have the term 'corn' in them.
The users would find this to be very useful as it would give them the ability to use ONE form to search for items.
Thank you,
Johnathan

This feature is already integrated into the Auction Factory system by enabling the "Auction Factory searchbot" plugin. The plugin description says "Allows Searching of Auctions". There are only 2 parameter settings available: 1) Search limit, and 2) Search in long description.
I tested it on my AF 1.6.0 install with Joomla 1.5.13 and it worked fine. My search results returned both active and archived (expired) auction listings.
This searchbot has been part of AF since at least version 1.5.2 and probably longer. Just make sure it's enabled and you're good to go.

I did try to use this, however it didn't search the other fields of the auction. I.e. the ZIP code field that I added... it didn't search that.

Did you add the zip code field in Community Builder? That's where mine is. If so, go to Components > Community Builder > Field Management. There is a column for "Searchable?" Make sure this is turned on.
I tested a zip code search on my site and it works using the default Joomla search module.

Sorry, unfortunately I can't help with that. I haven't tried setting up AF without CB. Hopefully, the developers will step in with a solution soon.
Good luck,
Richard

Yes. We plan to integrate the custom fields option for the upcoming release. We already did some new features, like integration with UddeIM, an autoextend option, a nice bidding band, etc. Most of this features are gonna be available in the next released version which will be 1.6.5 .
Hopefully we will manage to introduce then also the custom fields option, if not surely it will catch the next release since we are planning this for a long time and it became a must. Custom fields option will make the platform more flexible and will help also allot of users.
Wish you both a nice week-end!

what does auto extend mean? What I need is the ability to extend the time of the auction based on activity, i.e. if there is activity within 10 minutes of the end of the auction to extend it an additional 10 minutes. Is that what you mean?
Also, do you have any projected time frame for the next release? The custom fields is something we could REALLY use! Thank you.

cassianonuno,
The Auction Factory searchbot plugin is a Joomla plugin. Log into your Joomla Admin, then go to Extensions > Plugin Manager. You can locate it easier if you use the Select Type popup menu to select Search, so you're viewing only search plugins. The plugin's name is "Auction Factory searchbot", in the File column it's the bids_searchbot. All you need to do is make sure it's enabled.

Hello Richard,
thank you for you reactive answer.
Actually, I had already enabled this plugin, but i didn't make the link with the above mentionned plugin
.
My concern is that it looks like the search page (in front end) is quite empty in comparison with the one displayed in the demo site. I don't know how I can get this extended search layout (showing search options ...) ... Is there a back end option to be enabled ?
Here is the link to this search page :
http://e-lynx.eu/newproj.com/component/bids/search.html
Thank you.

Your link
http://e-lynx.eu/newproj.com/component/bids/search.html
points to the Auction Factory Advanced Search page. That's not what the Auction Factory searchbot plugin is for.
The AF plugin makes sure auction items are included in results from the template's main search box, and you don't have that module enabled. Look at the YOOtheme Phoenix demo and you'll see it at the right side of the main menu. Go to Extensions > Module Manager, find and enable the search module.
There's also something wrong with all the links in your Auction Menu (Auctions, Categories, Search). Although the URL that shows for each of those links is correct, they are not loading the correct page. No matter what I click, I see the list auctions page.
Check your links in Menus > Auction Menu. Each should be pointing to an external URL like this:
Auctions - index.php?option=com_bids&task=listauctions
Categories - index.php?option=com_bids&task=listcats
Search - index.php?option=com_bids&task=search

Hello Richard,
thank you for your support,
I have checked the menu links. In backend I have verified I have the same URLs as the ones in your site.
The point is that whatever menu I was clicking on, the URL display result was different than if I write it directly into the URL address bar of my browser (i don't know if I am clear enough
).
Anyway, I managed to make it right by removing the Joomla SEF options (Global config > Site > Add suffix to URLs). It was set to "yes" and was putting the mess in my Auction menus URLs.
Now I have put it back to "no", everything is OK, and i get the right display of each menu.
Thank you again for your support.
